01Choose the relationship and check the sponsor's status
What to do
Identify the branch: spouse of a Serbian citizen, spouse of a permitted foreign national, unmarried partner or family member. Check the sponsor's permit validity; family tourism differs from reunification.
Where to go
Sponsoring relative and competent consulate
What to prepare
- Sponsor passport/ID, status and relationship details
02Prove the relationship with the appropriate records
What to do
Obtain a marriage record for spouses or a birth record with certified translation for a child. An unmarried union requires both parties' free-status and durable-union evidence, not merely an oral assertion. Prepare the sponsor's invitation under official requirements.
Where to go
Civil registry, sponsoring relative and court interpreter
What to prepare
- Marriage/kinship record or unmarried-union evidence
- Health insurance evidence
- Evidence of maintenance funds
03File a separate form for each family member
What to do
Select family reunification in eVisa. Names, dates and passport numbers must match records and the invitation. Children and adults have separate applications; include photos and payment for each as instructed by the consulate.
Where to go
eVisa or Serbian consulate for lawful residence
What to prepare
- Entry passport and stamped pages
- Separate form, photo, invitation, family records and fee
04Arrange address and family residence after entry
What to do
Check each visa's validity. Register the stay and apply for family residence on the same ground for a longer stay. A child's residence application is filed in person at MUP by the legal representative; the family visa does not automatically issue a residence card.
Where to go
Host; eForeigner for adults, MUP for a child's filing
What to prepare
- Visa, passport, address and family residence evidence
Translation and filing
Translation and certification
Before translating a foreign-issued record, ask the receiving institution whether it needs a Serbian translation by a court-certified translator (sudski tumač), whether an apostille/legalization is required, and in which order. Requirements differ by country and document. An ordinary or automatic translation is not a certified translation when certification is required.
What happens next
File only through the confirmed method. Keep a copy of the submission, case/application number and proof of receipt. Ask how to check status, when to expect a reply and what to do if more information is requested.
