01Choose a programme and your university's admission call
What to do
Read your faculty's admission call: language, dates, examinations and fees differ. The Belgrade links illustrate an official procedure; they do not set rules for every university.
Where to go
Your chosen faculty's admissions office
What to prepare
- Programme name and study level
- Passport and existing school certificate/diploma
02Start recognition of your previous education
What to do
For a foreign school certificate, contact the Qualifications Agency. For further study based on a foreign university degree, contact the receiving university; employment recognition does not replace academic recognition.
Where to go
ENIC/NARIC or the university's academic recognition office
What to prepare
- Certificate/diploma and transcript
- Court-certified translation and legalisation where required by that procedure
03Submit the application and complete selection
What to do
Complete the faculty form, attach required copies and present originals. First-year admission may include an entrance exam; keep the application number and check preliminary rankings and objection deadlines.
Where to go
Faculty admissions office, not immigration police
What to prepare
- Faculty application form and passport
- Recognition decision or proof of a pending procedure if the admission call permits it
- Education records and application-fee receipt
04Complete enrolment and arrange lawful residence separately
What to do
After a qualifying result, provide enrolment documents and pay tuition under the faculty's terms. Obtain an enrolment certificate. It supports a study-based residence application but is not itself a residence permit or visa.
Where to go
Faculty student service; then MUP/foreigner portal
What to prepare
- Admission-call enrolment documents and payment confirmation
- Enrolment certificate and insurance coverage
Translation and filing
Translation and certification
Before translating a foreign-issued record, ask the receiving institution whether it needs a Serbian translation by a court-certified translator (sudski tumač), whether an apostille/legalization is required, and in which order. Requirements differ by country and document. An ordinary or automatic translation is not a certified translation when certification is required.
What happens next
File only through the confirmed method. Keep a copy of the submission, case/application number and proof of receipt. Ask how to check status, when to expect a reply and what to do if more information is requested.
Document overview and case variants
