01Agree registration with your host.
What to do
Before arrival agree who registers your stay. Hotels and paid accommodation register through eTourist; a private host registers visitors with the competent authority or an available electronic service.
Where to go
Landlord, hotel or other host.
What to prepare
- Applicant’s passport; check name spelling and validity
- Actual address and host details
02Provide registration details on time.
What to do
Give the host passport details, arrival date and exact address. The official registration deadline is 24 hours after accommodation or the visitor's arrival. Do not postpone it until your residence application.
Where to go
Host: prescribed registration service or competent MUP office.
What to prepare
- Passport, arrival date and address details for registration
03Obtain and check confirmation.
What to do
Ask for registration confirmation and check the name, passport, date and address. Stay registration does not grant residence or replace a rental contract.
Where to go
Host or authority registering the stay.
What to prepare
- Stay registration confirmation (beli karton) to check name and address
04Agree rental terms and address evidence.
What to do
For renting, agree the term, rent, deposit and the owner's help with registration in writing. Housing-use evidence and guest registration serve different purposes. Prepare the address evidence required for your residence basis.
Where to go
Owner/landlord; receiving authority for a specific application’s requirements.
What to prepare
- Rental agreement and evidence of permission to use the address
05Update the record when moving.
What to do
If you move, confirm the update procedure with MUP for the new address. Keep your contract and registration evidence; use the current address in a residence application.
Where to go
New host and MUP/registration service for your case.
What to prepare
- New address and existing registration confirmation
Translation and filing
Translation and certification
Before translating a foreign-issued record, ask the receiving institution whether it needs a Serbian translation by a court-certified translator (sudski tumač), whether an apostille/legalization is required, and in which order. Requirements differ by country and document. An ordinary or automatic translation is not a certified translation when certification is required.
What happens next
File only through the confirmed method. Keep a copy of the submission, case/application number and proof of receipt. Ask how to check status, when to expect a reply and what to do if more information is requested.
Message to the institution
Fill in your details and send this through an official channel shown above. This asks how to proceed; it is not a government form or a completed application. Do not attach originals or sensitive personal data to ordinary email until the institution confirms a safe way to send them.
Hello, I would like to follow the “Renting and registering an address” procedure myself. My situation: [citizenship and current status in Serbia], [municipality], [brief circumstances and goal]. Could you please confirm: 1. Which department handles my case and where should I file? 2. Must I use an online service or prescribed form? If so, please send the current link and instructions. 3. Which documents apply to my case; are originals, copies or additional evidence needed? 4. For foreign-issued records, is apostille/legalization and a Serbian translation by a court-certified translator (sudski tumač) required? In which order? 5. How should I file, obtain proof of receipt and check status? Thank you. [Name] · [reply contact]
If an authority requires a prescribed form, use only its current official version.
