Marks stay in this browser only. No account is needed; a mark is not an authority’s confirmation.
01Confirm the receiving authority's requirements.
What to do
Identify the receiving authority and whether a certified translation is required. Ask about language, originals or copies, certification and legalization of the foreign document. These are distinct requirements; translation does not replace an apostille.
Where to go
Authority receiving the translation.
What to prepare
- Document type, issuing country, purpose and recipient’s requirements
02Prepare the complete legible document.
What to do
Prepare the complete legible document, including reverse sides, seals and attachments. Compare names with the passport and clarify discrepancies before translation. Supply only records needed for your procedure.
Where to go
Document holder; obtain legible missing pages from the issuing authority.
What to prepare
- Complete document: pages, reverses, signatures, seals and attachments
03Find a court translator if required.
What to do
If a court-certified translation is required, find a translator for the language in the Ministry of Justice electronic directory. Ordinary or AI translation must not be presented as court-certified.
Where to go
Ministry of Justice court translator register.
What to prepare
- Source language and confirmation that certified translation is required
04Agree originals, price and deadline.
What to do
Agree price, deadline, original-inspection requirements, number of copies and delivery with the translator. Identify the receiving authority. If legalization is needed, agree the sequence before ordering.
Where to go
Selected court translator and receiving institution.
What to prepare
- Original/copy as agreed, scope, deadline and price
05Check the translation and file the documents.
What to do
Check names, dates, numbers, completeness and required certification upon receipt. File the translation with the original or copy in the format confirmed by the authority. Keep your copy.
Where to go
Translator for corrections; receiving authority for filing.
What to prepare
- Original and completed translation, including seals and signatures
Translation and filing
Translation and certification
Before translating a foreign-issued record, ask the receiving institution whether it needs a Serbian translation by a court-certified translator (sudski tumač), whether an apostille/legalization is required, and in which order. Requirements differ by country and document. An ordinary or automatic translation is not a certified translation when certification is required.
What happens next
File only through the confirmed method. Keep a copy of the submission, case/application number and proof of receipt. Ask how to check status, when to expect a reply and what to do if more information is requested.
Message to the institution
Fill in your details and send this through an official channel shown above. This asks how to proceed; it is not a government form or a completed application. Do not attach originals or sensitive personal data to ordinary email until the institution confirms a safe way to send them.
Hello, I would like to follow the “Official document translation and certification” procedure myself. My situation: [citizenship and current status in Serbia], [municipality], [brief circumstances and goal]. Could you please confirm: 1. Which department handles my case and where should I file? 2. Must I use an online service or prescribed form? If so, please send the current link and instructions. 3. Which documents apply to my case; are originals, copies or additional evidence needed? 4. For foreign-issued records, is apostille/legalization and a Serbian translation by a court-certified translator (sudski tumač) required? In which order? 5. How should I file, obtain proof of receipt and check status? Thank you. [Name] · [reply contact]
If an authority requires a prescribed form, use only its current official version.
