01Identify the exact certificate purpose

What to do

Ask the school, employer, driving school or authority for the required certificate, validity period and accepted provider. Driving fitness, employment and education certificates are different documents. Do not book a general examination before identifying the required type.

Where to go

Institution receiving the certificate.

What to prepare

  • Written requirement or recipient’s official form
  • Job title, educational programme or licence category
02Contact the appropriate medical department

What to do

Employment and driving fitness commonly involve occupational medicine; a child may need a paediatrician or designated assessment team. Confirm that the provider may issue the required certificate and ask about cost, booking and preparation. RFZO does not cover every administrative certificate.

Where to go

Occupational-medicine department or the specialist service specified by the recipient.

What to prepare

  • Identification and certificate requirement
  • Employer referral or another prescribed form where required
03Prepare records and undergo assessment

What to do

Bring previous reports and medication details; the clinician determines required examinations. Novi Sad specifies photo identification and a paediatrician’s report for vocational secondary-school admission. Confirm tests, fasting and translations with the department rather than arranging them on your own.

Where to go

Designated medical department or assessment team.

What to prepare

  • Passport or other accepted photo identification
  • Previous reports; paediatrician report for a pupil where required
04Check the certificate and submit it to its recipient

What to do

Check your name, purpose, date, signature and provider details. A patient’s free-form letter does not replace a prescribed certificate. Keep a copy and submit the original or accepted copy within the recipient’s specified period. Do not publish diagnoses or the certificate publicly.

Where to go

School, employer, driving school or authority that requested the certificate.

What to prepare

  • Issued certificate in the required format
  • Personal copy and submission acknowledgment if applicable
Translation and filing

Translation and certification

Before translating a foreign-issued record, ask the receiving institution whether it needs a Serbian translation by a court-certified translator (sudski tumač), whether an apostille/legalization is required, and in which order. Requirements differ by country and document. An ordinary or automatic translation is not a certified translation when certification is required.

What happens next

File only through the confirmed method. Keep a copy of the submission, case/application number and proof of receipt. Ask how to check status, when to expect a reply and what to do if more information is requested.
