Marked: 0 of 4
01Choose public or private care

What to do

This route concerns planned appointments, not diagnosis. For public care, check KZO/PZK and registration; for private care, check the policy network or self-pay price. In a life-threatening emergency do not wait for an appointment: call 194 or 112.

Where to go

RFZO for insurance status; insurer or clinic reception for appointment conditions.

What to prepare

  • KZO/PZK or private policy; identification
02Select a doctor, or a paediatrician for a child

What to do

Ask health-centre reception which doctors accept new patients. Complete the prescribed Izjava o izboru i promeni izabranog lekara; the legal representative acts for a child. The Novi Sad link lists doctors by location. This is doctor selection, not a free-form treatment request.

Where to go

Adult or children’s reception at your local health centre; in Novi Sad, Dom zdravlja Novi Sad.

What to prepare

  • Patient’s KZO/PZK and identification
  • For a child: child’s and representative’s documents; medical history for the first visit
03Book at the correct location

What to do

Give the chosen doctor’s name, location and purpose: first visit, follow-up or certificate. Novi Sad’s official contact centre is 021/4879-000; check the linked page for current hours and methods. Keep the date, address and doctor’s name. Obtain insurer approval first for private cover.

Where to go

Chosen institution’s contact centre or reception.

What to prepare

  • Patient’s name, insurance details and contact telephone
  • For specialist care: referral where required

Example enquiry

An illustrative example, not an official form. Use the prescribed form where required.

Hello. I would like to choose a paediatrician for my child [age] and book the first visit. Insurance is [RFZO/private/none]; we live in [area]. Which location should we attend, what documents are needed and is prior registration required? This is an enquiry example, not a medical form.
04Attend with records and obtain the next step

What to do

Bring identification, insurance, previous reports, medication list and the child’s vaccination records. Ask whether specialist referral, tests or follow-up booking is needed. Obtain the report and instructions; do not upload medical records into public website feedback.

Where to go

Chosen doctor or paediatrician; the named institution if referred.

What to prepare

  • KZO/PZK or policy, passport and previous reports
  • Referral and follow-up appointment details if issued
Translation and filing

Translation and certification

Before translating a foreign-issued record, ask the receiving institution whether it needs a Serbian translation by a court-certified translator (sudski tumač), whether an apostille/legalization is required, and in which order. Requirements differ by country and document. An ordinary or automatic translation is not a certified translation when certification is required.

What happens next

File only through the confirmed method. Keep a copy of the submission, case/application number and proof of receipt. Ask how to check status, when to expect a reply and what to do if more information is requested.

Document overview and case variants

What may be required

  • Requirements depend on insurance status, patient age and type of care; confirm the list with the provider before your visit.
  • Bring identification and existing medical records if the provider confirms they are needed.

Compare this list with the documents in each step and the chosen authority's requirements. You can read the guide and prepare the package yourself without submitting a request.

TimingThe healthcare provider or insurer sets booking procedures and timing.
